So, I got a pretty interesting email the other day, and it was someone who was watching the first part of a free course that I give people on my website called The Profit Leverage Course. And this person had read that I quit my three-hundred-thousand-dollar job to start online. And they said, well, it’s alright for me because I probably got funded from my first business and I’ve never had to struggle. And gee, that made my blood boil a bit.
And I went to explain, you know what, how did I get the three-hundred-thousand job in the first place? Well, that was after a couple of decades of starting from the absolute bottom. In fact, if you read my book, Work Less Make More, you’ll know that my parents came across some pretty tough financial times. So, I had to go and get a job. And when I was 20 years old, I got my first full-time job. I was earning $18,500 a year. Not long after that, I got engaged and then I got married and then I was having my first baby. And I was about 23 years old when I found out I was having my first baby, and I had to earn three times the income. So, I had to get a job in sales and I worked my way all the way up from the bottom.
So, you know, from the debt collection phase of when I was calling people up asking for late payments, through to repossessions where I was dragging people’s cars out of their driveway as a 20-year-old, through to doing a start-up telco company, to selling for a living where every single month I started from scratch to prove myself and then make my way to management and then general management.
You know, I put in the yards and I still think, of all of that, probably the scariest thing that I ever did was to quit that secure full-time job and go into my own business, which I’ve been in now for over ten years. But it was never easy and it was never given to me. And that’s my point today. No one is going to gift you a seven-figure business. They’re not going to give it to you. You probably won’t win the lottery. You’ve got more chance of being struck by lightning twice. So, think about that.
If you really want it then you got to put your hands on it and get it yourself. You’ve got to go get it. You’ve got to start now. This is the one thing I really do agree with guys like Gary Vee and Grant Cardone. You’ve got to want it and you’ve got to go get it. In terms of when you’ve actually got it then I’d say I differ a little bit; it’s time to reassess things. But please don’t look at my story and think that any part of it was easy or given to me. I had to go get it and you’ve got to go get it as well.
