James Schramko here. Today’s topic is about who’s doing the tasks. I was recently in the Philippines, and I washed my car there just because we’d installed a new hose and the car was pretty dirty, and even though it costs about $2.50 to pay for someone to do the car, I thought it would be fun just to wash the car for old time’s sake.
I used to work in the car dealership and I washed a lot of cars. In fact, I’m very, very good at washing a car. I know exactly how to use the sponge and the bucket; the detergent and the hose and the chamois, and it looks fantastic in a very short time. But here’s my point today, just because you are good at something does not mean you should do it.
And we get caught in this trap in our business all the time. We find ourselves doing things that we’re really good at; however, there’s plenty of people we can get to do it at a really reasonable rate; so we can focus on the important stuff.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this tip. I’ll catch up with you soon.
