James Schramko here and I want to ask you when was the last time you reviewed the activities that you’re doing? I do recommend this for my students is to pull out a blank pad and write down everything they’re doing for a week maybe a few weeks, depends on if you’re doing new things or not.
And then use the 3 D exercise that is Delete, Delegate or Do. So there are only three options. So are you going to delete these things, do they actually need getting done at all, and quite often there’s a good chunk of things you’re doing that are not needing to be done. And then there’s delegate. Of course, that’s always fun. You need to get people to help you with this. You can also find it sometimes a bit of a challenge to get rid of the things that you’re actually really good at and that you enjoy. But if you could get rid of those you’d actually find the stuff that’s left to do will be really high impact, super high impact, the stuff you love the most.
Try and have only those things that are where your special skills, your unique benefits come to the front. See, I’m better to be talking to you on a video or making a podcast than I am to try and edit my podcast or to upload it to social media. That’s not a perfect task for me but it’s a perfect task for someone who’s really good at that. I’m not even that good at it so I shouldn’t be doing it. So delete, delegate, do – they are the 3 D’s. It might be time to have a reassessment of all the activities you’re doing and I’m sure you’ll be able to pull a few hours a week if you do this activity. This is the kind of thing I talk about in my book, Work Less Make More. It’s available on Amazon and Audible, hope you can grab a copy or have a listen and enjoy.
