James Schramko here. I want to talk about intermittent business fasting. Now, you’ve probably heard about intermittent fasting when it comes to health and what happens there is you stop taking inputs for a period, let’s say, 12 hours. And your body can start to tap into the reserves of energy it has, i.e. fat. So instead of adding more fuel, it’s using some of the fuel it has and this helps you stay leaner, gives you mental acuity. In rats, it’s actually proven to help them live longer, to have less diseases. And you’ll hear about it in some of the great health books and scientific journals.
So when it comes to doing this for business, what am I talking about? What has this got to do with business? Well, think about all those things you’ve downloaded, those PDF files, the courses, the browser tabs you’ve had open recently. You’re taking in so much stuff. You just keep piling it on then you end up getting fat. You actually have too much stuff, you can’t move around as easily as when you have your focus on just a few things.
So my suggestion is, pull back a bit. Do less, take in less inputs and use the stuff you’ve already got. Put that course you’ve already purchased to good use. Utilize one or two of your business models, instead of five or six. Get it back to lean and effective. That’s why my book, “Work Less, Make More”, is very very counterintuitive but also super accurate. When you’re bringing in less work blocks, you can make so much headway with the things you have because you’ve got some space and some focus. You can recharge. You can refresh. You can score and filter business models and find out the one that makes the most money for you, and you can build your business much stronger.
So I consider intermittent business fasting to be the best way to get yourself out of that lethargic, under metabolized business status.
