James Schramko here. Today, I want to share with you an idea to get things moving faster.
Sometimes, I’m speaking with a student and they’re building out this complex system, this idea or concept that they’re going to manufacture an automated email sequence or an automated messenger bot, and I challenge that, and I say, what can we do today to at least get started with that? And sometimes, we switch from theory and planning into actual execution. We’ve sort of moved into done-with-you mode and I help them craft an email broadcast or a chatbot response on the spot that they have implemented right now.
So, really, the challenge is what can you implement right now instead of pondering, thinking about, theorizing about or overcomplicating? Quite often, these broadcast emails or the auto-response chatbot will actually be more effective and open up a floodgate of business compared to the idea that still stays in the head. So, if it’s a block around creating content, if it’s you’re trying to architect a NASA space mission, STOP. Take the simple path. Do something right now. A simple first step, execute on that. Get the result and be encouraged by it and treat the complicated perfectionist version as the optional version, the second iteration if you like, and that might be great for you to do down the track. But for now, go with the easiest first move that could potentially get you a good enough result that you don’t even have to do the end version.
