James Schramko here. Today, I want to share with you where you might want to refocus to get a much better result.
Typically when I’m looking through somebody’s business and they’re asking me for help, they tend to focus on what’s not selling and see if we can improve that. I tend to focus on what is selling. I go for the best-selling product, what sells the most, what has the best product because, generally, that’s the easy win. If we can just magnify that one, two, five, ten percent then we can have a big windfall because there’s the most momentum there. This is the door that’s already swinging that we can adjust the hinges for.
So I take my profit formula and I apply it to the top selling product and see how that can be improved. I do the same for my own business. Most of the innovation that I’m doing is on my already successful products – SuperFastBusiness Membership and SilverCircle. That’s where I refine and improve and refine and improve because they just get more and more successful. And that is the easy win rather than to spend a lot of time and energy on a complete unknown.
So if you want a fast win, think about what is already doing the absolute best and how can you improve that. If you have ten sales people, focus on the best salesperson and help them sell more, rather than the worst sales person who’s eating up your time and energy.
