I launched the podcast “She Renovates” a year ago, because I was completely disenchanted with Facebook. And I was concerned about being one-source reliant. And I’ve been having a little discussion with James over the coaching thread for a good year or so. And the reason I’m presenting is because I’m hoping that if people in the room are considering a podcast or launching a podcast that you will take some inspiration.
So I was concerned that my voice is too boring. I’m not suited to audio, I “Um and Ah” too much and my biggest problem I lack consistency. So I said to James, how many episodes do I need to start and he said one. And I thought, well, he clearly doesn’t know how inconsistent I am. But you know what I’m going to do it, so I did.
And as of today, I’ve been podcasting for just over a year. I’m getting around 2000 downloads a month, and I have never really promoted it. And I’ve got a mountain of five star reviews. So I’m pretty happy with that because it’s serving a need in my community, and I’m thrilled that I’m able to impact their lives.
The other thing I did when I launched it was I started a free Facebook group, also called “She Renovates”. This was against James’s advice, but I decided to do it to use it like a survey so I could get feedback on what people liked and didn’t like about the topics. And I was really surprised.
Just recently we covered this topic. A lot of women when they decide to go down the property path don’t have support from their partner, makes it tough. And I thought nobody’s going to comment about this because it’s very personal. But yes, I got in there and I got comments like, you read my mind. So it’s amazing.
