James Schramko here, with a tip on how you can sell more memberships.
If you have a membership or a subscription, it’s actually quite difficult to sell directly, so it’s very good to put something in front of it. And if you have a single-purchase product, try putting a bundle with a free trial offer.
Now, you must explicitly explain that there is a subscription, and you need to notify people before the trial expires. And if you do this well, you will find that you get a pretty good take-up rate for your membership. So put the product in front and bundle it with subscription on the order page. Spell it out and see how you go.
If you don’t want to try that approach, another thing to do is to send a follow-up email a few days later after purchase with a loyalty coupon. Because they purchased this product, they get a loyalty coupon which entitles them to, it could be a trial, it could be a special price, and see if that improves your conversions.
