James Schramko here. And today, I want to share with you a really great source for you to get promotions of your products or services.
So the product or service source that I referred to is yourself. This is simply a case of segmenting your database so that when people buy things, your database has a look to see what else they’ve purchased and if you can spot patterns where people should be buying one thing if they bought another.
Make that recommendation with sequential email offers. Certainly, you can do it in the shopping cart when people buy but that can be a little bit aggressive. Some people refer to this as “upsell hell”. And if you push people a little bit too hard, you’ll generally burn that customer and they’ll leave your list and they might have had a bad experience.
So, I generally go a little bit more conservative when it comes to people buying. Let them buy, give them a great experience, let them be established. And then you can make referrals and recommendations through your own email database and of course through social media and multiple subscriptions. So the best source of a referral for more products and services is you. Set up those systems. Simple sequential follow-up systems that are segmented and database driven can add massive amounts to your business.
