What numbers drive your business? In our community, we’ve got some great discussions now about the Four Disciplines of Execution or OKRs (One Key Result). And we have some great people in our own group who are experts at this stuff. But the idea is simple – there’s only one or two numbers that you really need to know in your business.
You don’t need a huge spreadsheet, you’re probably overcomplicating it. In our business, we only have about five numbers we look at. And most of them are lead metrics which means they indicate how the business is going to be in the future and they’re the ones we can have the most impact on.
These are the sort of keywords here. What is the least numbers that you could focus on which will have the most impact and then you report on them daily and share it with the team. In our Slack, every day, the team publish the numbers. And we share the numbers with the whole team and everyone in the team can work on that number. For example, one of the numbers we look at is how many email broadcasts have we sent in the last 30 days compared to last month and six months ago. And we can instantly get a snapshot – are we growing or are we shrinking?
Why how many email broadcasts are sent? Because every time we send an email broadcast, we’re making an offer. We’re leading them back to our site. Our sites got calls to action, people join the waiting list, they become a member of our community or they buy an affiliate recommendation or they go on the Maldives mastermind trip or they join SilverCircle. More emails, more offers, more customers. So that is a lead metric.
